Performing sobriety

Thursday 7/25/24

This is what people do now by the way. The go online and perform sobriety. It becomes their shtick, their business model, their platform, their way of getting attention, getting viewers, getting readers. Look at Emily Gould. No one thinks Emily Gould is good at writing. No one likes reading Emily Gould. Emily Gould's writing has no value as writing. People tune in to see what's gone wrong now. That's what she has to write about: What's gone wrong this time. She needs to make things go wrong because otherwise how could she write, how could she call herself a writer, what else could she come up with? She can't invent. What are the other options? Be strong, handle things, grow, take care of that on your own time, and then imagine and create and produce?

Side note: Do you know what all of these people with their MFAs do? Have to do? They fictionalize their own lives. Their meaningless work is about them. Their little worlds. They change some names. Basically none of them can invent something. That would be unfathomable for just about all of them.

Here's something I saw the other day from someone else. It's so typical of people now and such an indication of where this cesspool of a world, a culture, a society is at.

follow ALL of my social medias to see my complete alcohol free journey and bipolar disorder. every single step. every difficulty. every encounter with temptation. everytime I make it another day. every relapse.

Cue, then, the hashtags. Right? Because you have to have those.

Imagine if I did this? And it was what I wrote about? All I wrote about? I got out there and performed like an organ grinder's monkey, but a monkey that sold its soul? How do you live with yourself knowing that's what you are? All you can do? That you have to do that because it's not like you could come up with anything else of any interest?

I bring it back to Emily Gould and people like that. It's performance art. It's not writing. It's a kind of theatrical show of "Look what I've done to myself now." And you just have to keep doing that thing or lie about doing that thing in order to have whatever it is you have. Her career, such. Followers, for other people. Both.

Look at that all caps. Follow along across the social media platforms.

People are so dead inside. You don't have to be dead inside. You don't have to be like this. You can have life inside of you instead. But you wouldn't going about anything in this manner.
